If the most important servers of Google are bombed, will it destroy its empire? [A Quora Post]

A big company like Google isn't made up of servers. Google runs because of image. Google has become the worlds biggest search engine because of the image of they have formed. Let's say you bombed Google’s servers (pictured). Google is a 500 billion dollar company. In a matter of days, Google would be up and running using another company's servers. In weeks, Google would have restored their own servers. Secondly, (relating to image), if Google went down for a day or two, people would not automatically switch to another search engine. To billions of people, Google has become the default. Bing, DuckDuckGo, and others barely exist for billions of people worldwide. In the end, losing Google for a short while would be a hard blow but Google's image would save the company once it was up and running again. More@ https://www.technapping.com Source : Quora

What is an "Only in Japan" moment? [A Quora Post]

"My husband recently joined Tokyo Institute of Technology for his Postdoc. He usually gets sick during travelling and unfortunately, he was really sick before his journey to Tokyo. He, along with his friend, left on a Wednesday from India and reached Tokyo the next day (Thursday evening). I received last update from him before boarding his connecting flight. He said he was feeling fine and nothing to worry. I was tracking his flight and it had arrived safely in Tokyo on time. I didn’t receive any call from him till Friday evening. I couldn’t reach him on mobile. I was freaking out. I was just reassuring myself that he is Japan and with his friend, so he should be fine. Before he left, he had informed me that his supervisor was picking him from the airport and they were having dinner with the research group on Friday evening. Since I didn’t get any update from him after reaching Tokyo, I sent an email to his supervisor inquiring if my husband and his friend had arrived safely. ...

What is the difference between being wise, intelligent, and clever? [A Quora Post]

Can you solve “1 + 1 = x”? Mr. Intelligent : Sure, why not? It’s 2. Piece of cake. I have a hundred ways to prove it to you. Let me show you all of them. *starts writing and drawing on the board* Mr. Clever:  It’s 2. If you want to understand why, I’ll gladly bring you to my friend, Mr. Intelligent. He’ll prove it to you using a hundred ways. Mr. Wise:  He understands that he has no need to solve this question (according to his personal situation) and simply moves on. An  intelligent  person utilizes his mental capacity to solve problems. A  clever  person uses resources around him to solve problems. A  wise  man picks the right problem according to his personal situation. You can have a combination of these qualities. What are the top 10 things Americans don't know about the rest of the world?

Nobody else uses the imperial system. What the fuck is a pound? I’ll tell you what it is, it’s what we buy stuff with. Your football is literally played by you. The rest of the world plays real football (soccer). We don’t all tip extreme amounts when simply buying a coffee. America isn’t the only country with “freedom”. On the similar note, not all people love guns. In fact many countries (Britain included) get along just fine without them. Most countries don’t just invade other ones just for the fun of it. America isn’t the centre of the planet. In fact, if we’re going to get picky, technically Britain is, as the Meridian line runs through Greenwich in London. Fuel for cars isn’t called gas. It’s called petrol or diesel. It’s a liquid, not a gas. America didn’t invent everything. Brits don’t actually have terrible teeth. Alright just kidding, we do. What are the lessons people most often learn too late in life? [A Quora Post]

Here are the top 10 lessons people most often learn too late in life: Hustle is the antidote to fear - When I was in high school, I wanted to ask out a girl to prom but was afraid of being rejected. So I bought a guitar, learned how to play "I Want to Grow Old With You" (Thanks Adam Sandler) and serenaded her in class. I changed the lyrics to "I want to go to prom with you." Guess what? She said yes. When I wanted to start my motivational blog CEO Lifestyle, I had no idea how to build a nice website or how to build a community following. I was also pretty scared of failing again. What if I wrote for years and no one ended up going to my website? What if no one really cared about motivation? And then I realized, even if only 10 people signed up, I would still feel awesome about making a difference in 10 people's lives. And that was enough to get me started. Ever since then, I've been hustling non stop. I've now written 109 Quora posts and ha...

Has anyone surprised you after their death? [A Quora Post]

" Jon Davis , Life's only worth living if it isn't easy. Updated May 2 My father died when I was 11. I hated him — not for dying, but for the way he lived. The last time I saw him, I was 7 years old. That was the day he abandoned my mother and me after they had had another fight. He stole the family truck, which my mother had bought, and private investigators had to find it and bring it back. He was on his way home to Oklahoma after moving the whole family to Austin, Texas, where he swore he would get an education at the University of Texas. In reality, he just drank on the couch watching TV and going to play golf. This was after he and my mother married a few months earlier. She wanted her son to have a real father, but instead, she got him. When he took off, the divorce was obvious. It must have been humiliating to my mother, but she pushed through, even when the truck died on us halfway home from Austin to our family home in Oklahoma...

Unable to find a job in his hometown in northeast India, Alim moved to Chennai in the south with nothing more than Rs200 in his pockets. He spent months job-hunting before fate finally brought him to the gates of Zoho Corporation, a software products maker, as a security guard. Four years down the line, Alim still works at Zoho, but he no longer mans the gates. He is part of the company’s reports team, and spends his days using code to create charts and data visualisations. Paddy Menon is a self-confessed rebel. To the extent that he also named his company REBEL Disruptive Building Technologies and occupies the position of Chief Disruptor. "I am a disruptor. This is an uber and gurugram story where women can still feel safe. I had booked an uber pool ride home but due to persistent network issue , was unable to connect with my driver. As his eta of 6min was breached, uber cancelled my ride. But since I reached the location and it is late in the evening and raining, my driver Mr Dalbir Singh is taking me home after switching off his app and losing his rides. He has daughters at home and knows what it feels like to have your daughters feel safe. A complaint to uber though, you allow us to complain, why is there no way I can appreciate people like Mr Dalbir, car no HR46E8319. Warren Buffet's Success Story!

Warren Buffett  is a self-made billionaire. His successful investment business makes him one of the most respected men in the world.  Buffett attributes all of that to always being prepared. When he was a teenager, he was inspired by a book called  "The Intelligent Investor" by Ben Graham . The book tells the importance of being prepared instead of making emotional decisions in business.  Here are a few ways that you can be as prepared as Buffett when you make investment decisions:  Make sure you're getting the investment at a good price. This makes the investment safer in the long-run.  Ask yourself if the investment is long-term. The best investments give back over time instead of offering immediate gratification.  Research if the business is well-managed. Buffett scrutinizes decisions that management are making to ensure that even if the company falls on hard times, the best decisions will be made.  See if the business avoids debt...

The Richest Women In The World 2017!

A banner year for billionaires has lifted the fortunes of female moguls around the globe. An all-time high of 2043 people made the ranks of FORBES’ World's Billionaires, 227 of whom are women -- a jump from last year’s 202 and a record for women billionaires. For the second year running, France’s Liliane Bettencourt is the world’s wealthiest woman with a $39.5 billion net worth. The cosmetics heiress’ fortune is $3.4 billion more than a year ago, but that was only good enough to secure her a spot at no.14 on the list, down from no.11 last year. Bettencourt owns a third of L’Oreal with her children; her father, Eugene Schueller, founded the company in 1907 and passed away in 1957. The 94-year-old, who suffers from dementia, has been mired in a legal battle against former confidante and photographer Francois-Marie Banier. In 2016...
